5 Culinary spots we love in Antwerp

Antwerp is a city of contrasts. Historic buildings hide contemporary concepts, intimate corners lead to vibrant experiences, and behind impressive façades you’ll often discover the places that leave the strongest impression. During your time in the city, these are five culinary spots we truly recommend visiting. Each with its own atmosphere, story and character, yet all deeply connected to the creative energy that defines Antwerp.

Spice Bank

Spice Bank is without a doubt one of our favourite spots in Antwerp. Marie Van Cauwelaert, daughter of Antwerp Design Week founder Geert-Jan Van Cauwelaert, opened her restaurant in one of the city’s most unexpected locations: the former National Bank of Antwerp. But this place stands out for far more than its story alone. With experience gained in renowned restaurants, extensive travels through Eastern countries and a strong personal vision, Marie brings together refined flavours, honest cooking and a unique atmosphere. Hidden inside the impressive heritage setting, Spice Bank is a true must visit for anyone looking to discover Antwerp through taste.

Cobra City

Bold, energetic and slightly rebellious, Cobra City brings a completely different atmosphere to the Antwerp food scene. Inspired by the avant-garde CoBrA art movement, the restaurant immerses guests in a colourful and expressive world where design, music and gastronomy blend together. The experience feels vibrant from the moment you enter, making it the perfect spot for those who enjoy a lively dinner setting paired with strong flavours and a distinctive identity.

Eldo

In Antwerp South, Eldo revolves around one essential element: fire. The open-fire kitchen defines both the menu and the atmosphere, creating dishes filled with depth, warmth and simplicity. Seasonal ingredients take centre stage in an interior that feels smoky, intimate and refined at the same time. Together with carefully selected wine pairings, Eldo offers a dining experience that feels understated yet luxurious, ideal for long evenings shared around the table.

Mico & Jon

Mico & Jon brings a softer and deeply personal touch to the city. Formerly known as Mico’s Bistro, the concept focuses on lunch and afternoon tea, inspired by the owners’ Hong Kong heritage. Their menu combines comforting flavours with elegant presentation, always using high-quality local ingredients. The atmosphere feels calm, welcoming and authentic, making it a beautiful place to slow down during a busy day in Antwerp.

Fiera & Madonna

Few restaurants in Antwerp connect heritage and hospitality as seamlessly as Fiera and Madonna. Located respectively in the Handelsbeurs and the KMSKA, both concepts are deeply shaped by their architectural surroundings. At Fiera, Antwerp’s commercial history and grand mosaics inspired the experience, while Madonna draws from the rhythm, symmetry and light of the museum setting. Beyond the impressive interiors, both restaurants offer refined hospitality where every detail contributes to a timeless and immersive atmosphere. Dining here means experiencing Antwerp’s heritage in an entirely contemporary way.
