'As Belgian Designers we are too modest in showcasing our strenghts'

Antwerp Design Week (ADW) offers a unique opportunity to explore the design world in and around Antwerp. Spread across five districts, allowing visitors to discover new collections and experiences in various locations.

Laurent De Greef, the founder of Gommaire, shares why they chose to participate: “The idea behind ADW really appealed to us. In Belgium, we’re strong in developing furniture and decoration, but sometimes we’re too modest in showcasing our strengths. ADW gives us the chance to fully present our collection to clients, in a way that’s not always possible at busy trade fairs.”

To make their showroom more attractive, Gommaire has invited two other companies, Silk-ka and Omar Antwerp, to join them. “Silk-ka will host workshops on flower arranging with silk flowers, and Omar Antwerp, a specialist in cushions, will also be present. It’s a great match.' says Laurent.

Looking back, Laurent sees ADW as a growing platform for small-scale events: “We’ve doubled the number of participating companies compared to the edition in 2023. It’s important that ADW maintains its high-quality standards and diverse offerings to keep attracting the right audience.”
